We're making molecules into meaning.
Founded in 2025, DermTeach is a biotechnology startup created by a diverse team of engineers and scientists dedicated to revolutionizing how people understand and care for their skin health. We're creating accessible, at-home diagnostic tools that provide clinical-grade insights into skin health markers.
To empower individuals with precise, personalized knowledge about their skin health, enabling them to make informed decisions about skincare products, treatments, and lifestyle factors that affect their skin's condition and appearance.
A world where everyone has access to dermatological-grade insights about their unique skin profile, helping to minimize skin conditions, reduce healthcare costs, and promote healthier, more confident lives.
The DermTeach concept was born when Jaewoo Kang (UT) and Filippo Cuni (ETH) met at Lean Startup Academy and connected over their shared vision of bringing clinical-grade skin diagnostics to the home setting.
Kate Gemrich, Adam Kahn, and Nadia Wheeler from Purdue's Biomedical Engineering program joined the team, bringing specialized expertise in biosensor development and medical device design.
Less than three months after the creation of the team, DermTeach secured a first place finish in the Lean Startup Academy pitch competition, validating our concept and attracting interest from potential investors.
Restructured the core of the team to focus on efficient delivery of our vision, always calling back to the fundamental principles of science communication and illucidation.
Started looking for institutional partners and local funding to generate enough runway to support our first product development phase.
Now: Refining our product based on user feedback and preparing for a wider beta testing phase. Building our waitlist for our anticipated product launch.
